The Foundation provides two awards each year at the Academy of Forensic Sciences Annual Meeting: The International Outreach (Travel) Award and the Research Award. The Kerley International Outreach Award provides a travel stipend for an international candidate to assist with costs for attending the American Academy of Forensic Sciences meetings. The Kerley Research Award is presented to the paper or poster that best demonstrates excellence in the pursuit of developments in the field of forensic anthropology.

In the event a board member is associated with an applicant or is listed on a research paper under consideration, that member is recused from the selection process.
